These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and KC AI Pet Match. Please read them before using this website or sending us a lost or found pet report. We have tried to write them in plain language. These Terms are not legal advice, and they are not a substitute for advice from your own attorney.
Effective Date
These Terms of Use are effective as of July 28, 2026.
Acceptance of These Terms
By using this website, submitting a lost or found pet report, sending us photographs or information, reviewing listings or possible matches, or communicating with us through the platform, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
About KC AI Pet Match
KC AI Pet Match is a lost-and-found pet reporting and possible-match platform for the Kansas City area. We compare lost-pet reports against found-pet reports and sightings, using photographs, descriptions, dates, general locations, and other case details, to suggest pets that may be the same animal.
KC AI Pet Match is not an adoption website, an animal shelter, an animal control agency, a veterinary provider, law enforcement, or an emergency-response agency. We do not take custody of animals, we do not rehome pets, and we do not investigate crimes. We do not guarantee that any pet will be identified, located, captured, recovered, or reunited.
The platform is being built. Today, reports reach us by email through the links on this website. Features such as online forms, maps, user accounts, automatic alerts, partner access, optional paid features, sponsorships, donations, and professional-service referrals are possible or planned, not currently available. Nothing in these Terms should be read as a promise that a planned feature will be built, or that it will work in a particular way.
Eligibility to Use the Platform
You must be at least 18 years old to use this platform on your own. If you are under 18, you may use it only with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for the report. We do not currently use any age-verification technology, so we rely on you to tell us the truth about your age.
Lost and Found Pet Reports
A report is the information you send us about a pet that is missing or that you have found. It may include photographs, a description of the animal, the date, the general location, and how to reach you. We use that information to record the report and to look for possible matches.
Submitting a report does not create an account, a contract for services, or an obligation on our part to publish the report, to find a match, or to achieve any particular result.
Accuracy of Information
You agree to provide information that you reasonably believe is truthful, current, and related to a genuine lost or found pet situation. If something changes, such as your pet being found, please tell us so we can update or close the report.
You agree that you will not knowingly do any of the following:
- Submit a false or fabricated report
- Impersonate another person or organization
- Claim ownership of a pet you do not own
- Offer a pet for sale, rehoming, or adoption through the lost-and-found system
- Use the platform for harassment, surveillance, retaliation, fraud, or any dispute unrelated to reuniting a pet
- Publish another person’s private address, private phone number, private email address, gate or door codes, or other sensitive information
- Upload photographs you do not have the right to use
- Submit dangerous, unlawful, abusive, threatening, discriminatory, obscene, or malicious content
- Interfere with the website, the matching system, its security, its data, its users, or its administrators
- Scrape, harvest, copy, or commercially exploit reports or personal information
- Use a report to target, contact, threaten, or confront another person improperly
Photographs and Other Submitted Content
You keep ownership of what you submit. Your photographs remain yours. We do not claim ownership of your pet photographs, your descriptions, or any other content you send us.
You are responsible for making sure you have the right to send us what you send. If a photograph was taken by someone else, please get their permission first.
Permission to Display and Process Submitted Content
So that we can actually operate the service, you grant KC AI Pet Match a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, resize, format, display, compare, analyze, reproduce, distribute, and use the content you submit for possible-match review, and to share it with appropriate users or participating organizations when doing so is reasonably connected to reuniting a pet.
This license includes the right to create thumbnails, compressed copies, matching vectors, metadata, and other technical derivatives that the platform needs in order to work. The license applies only as reasonably necessary to operate, improve, secure, moderate, and promote the platform and to help reunite pets. It does not give us the right to sell your private information.
If you ask us to remove your content, we will do so, subject to the limits described in the Moderation and Data Retention sections and in our Privacy Policy.
AI-Assisted Matching and Human Verification
We use automated, AI-assisted comparison of photographs and descriptions to surface pets that may be the same animal. These results are leads only. Please understand the following:
- AI does not determine ownership of any animal
- AI does not make a final identity decision
- AI may miss a genuine match
- AI may suggest a match that is incorrect
- Animals that look alike are easily confused with one another
- Photographs may be incomplete, outdated, or affected by lighting, grooming, injury, weight change, age, or image quality
A person reviews possible matches before they are shared, and you must independently evaluate and verify any potential match. Confirming a pet’s identity may require microchip verification, veterinary records, ownership records, older photographs, distinctive identifying characteristics, and direct human confirmation.
A possible match is not authorization to enter someone’s property, confront a person, take an animal, or violate any law. A match suggestion is information, not permission and not proof of ownership.
Public Listings and Privacy
We do not currently publish public lost-and-found listings on this website. If we begin publishing them, a listing may show information such as:
- A photograph of the pet
- Species
- Breed or apparent breed
- Color and markings
- Sex
- Approximate age and approximate size
- The general area where the pet was lost or found
- The date lost or found
- Case status
- Other details that help identify the pet
Exact addresses, private email addresses, private phone numbers, and other sensitive personal information should not be displayed publicly. Anything you write in a description may become visible, so please do not include private details there.
Exact Locations and Sensitive Information
Location details may be generalized, delayed, obscured, or withheld. We may do this for privacy, personal safety, animal welfare, property-access, or investigation reasons, and we may do it without notice. For example, we may describe a neighborhood or cross street rather than an address, or hold back a location while a shy animal is being recovered.
Photographs can contain hidden location data. Please remove location data from a photo, or turn off location tagging, if you do not want to share where it was taken.
Communications and Possible-Match Notifications
If you submit a report, we may contact you about it, ask follow-up questions, send you possible matches, or help coordinate between an owner and a finder. We contact people by email, and by phone or text if a number was provided.
We do not promise a response time, and we do not promise that you will receive a notification for every possible match. You can ask us to stop contacting you at any time by emailing kcaipetmatch@gmail.com, though if you do, we may not be able to tell you about a possible match.
Responsibilities of Pet Owners and Finders
You remain responsible for your own search and for your own safety. That includes:
- Contacting local shelters, animal control, and veterinarians
- Contacting the microchip registry if the pet is chipped
- Following local laws and ordinances, including stray-hold and reporting requirements
- Searching safely and avoiding trespassing on property that is not yours
- Avoiding frightened, injured, or aggressive animals, which can bite
- Avoiding unsafe confrontations with other people
- Verifying ownership before an animal changes hands
- Seeking emergency or professional help when the situation calls for it
Please do not rely on KC AI Pet Match as your only recovery effort. The people who get their pets back usually do many things at once.
Shelters, Rescues, Veterinarians, Animal Control, and Community Partners
Shelters, rescue organizations, veterinary clinics, animal-control agencies, community groups, and volunteers may submit reports, review reports, confirm details, or receive relevant report information when doing so may help identify or recover a pet.
Listing a type of organization here does not mean any specific organization has a formal relationship with us. These organizations are independent, they follow their own policies, and we do not control their records or their decisions.
Professional Pet Recovery Services and Third-Party Referrals
Professional pet-recovery assistance and other third-party services may be offered, referred, or linked separately from this platform. If that happens:
- Those services are not included simply because the KC AI Pet Match platform is free
- They may have their own prices, contracts, terms, availability, and eligibility requirements
- A referral or link is not an endorsement and not a guarantee
- You are responsible for evaluating any third-party provider before hiring them
We do not guarantee any third party’s conduct, availability, pricing, methods, or results.
Free Platform Services and Possible Future Paid Features
Free to submit. Free to search. Free to review possible matches. KC AI Pet Match does not charge users to submit a lost or found pet report, search public listings, or review possible matches.
This does not mean that everything connected to the platform will always be free. Optional paid features, sponsorships, donations, and professional services may be offered in the future and would be described on their own terms, so that you always know what you are agreeing to before anything is charged.
Prohibited Uses
In addition to the restrictions in the Accuracy of Information section, you may not use the platform to break the law, to infringe anyone’s rights, to distribute malware, to attempt unauthorized access to our systems or anyone else’s, to place automated load on the site, or to build a competing dataset from our reports. We may treat any of these as grounds for removing content or restricting access.
Moderation, Review, Removal, and Account Restrictions
We reserve the right, but do not accept any obligation, to review reports, request additional information, delay publication, decline to publish, edit formatting without changing the meaning of a report, generalize location details, mark a report as duplicate, reunited, closed, inactive, disputed, or unverified, remove content, limit access to the platform, preserve information for safety, legal, fraud-prevention, or dispute reasons, and cooperate with lawful requests.
We are not obligated to publish every submission, to moderate every submission, or to keep any report indefinitely.
Reunited, Closed, Duplicate, and Inactive Reports
When a pet is reunited or a report is otherwise resolved, we stop active matching on that report and remove or mark any public listing. We may merge duplicate reports about the same animal, and we may mark a report inactive if we cannot reach you or if it has gone stale.
We may keep a limited record of a closed report so we can recognize repeat reports and understand how well the service works. You can ask us to delete your closed report. How long information is kept is described in our Privacy Policy.
No Emergency Services
KC AI Pet Match is not an emergency service, and we do not monitor reports around the clock. Do not use this platform to report an emergency.
- Call 911 for any immediate threat to human safety
- Contact your local animal control agency for a dangerous, injured, aggressive, neglected, or unlawfully confined animal
- Contact a veterinarian or an emergency veterinary hospital for a medical emergency
- Contact local law enforcement when the situation calls for it
No Veterinary, Legal, or Professional Advice
Nothing on this platform is veterinary, legal, or other professional advice. Search suggestions and general information are offered to be helpful, not authoritative. For medical questions about an animal, talk to a veterinarian. For questions about ownership, custody, stray holds, or property rights, talk to an attorney or your local animal-control agency.
No Guarantee of Accuracy, Availability, or Results
Most of the information on this platform comes from members of the public, and we cannot verify it. Reports may be incomplete, mistaken, out of date, or in rare cases dishonest. We do not guarantee that the website will always be available, that it will be free of errors, that matching results will be accurate, that contact between people will succeed, that ownership will be verified, or that any pet will be recovered.
Third-Party Services and Links
This website depends on third parties such as our hosting provider, a security and content-delivery service, and an email provider. We may also link to other websites and organizations. We do not control third-party services or websites, and we are not responsible for their content, availability, practices, or policies. Visiting them is at your own risk and subject to their terms.
Intellectual Property
The KC AI Pet Match name, our original site content, our branding, the design of the platform, our software, and our matching processes are protected. Except where the law permits or we give written permission, you may not copy, reverse engineer, republish, or commercially exploit them.
This does not apply to things we do not own. We do not claim ownership of WordPress or other third-party software used to run this site, of your photographs and submissions, or of trademarks belonging to other organizations.
User Feedback and Suggestions
If you send us feedback, suggestions, or ideas for improving the platform, we may use them without restriction and without owing you compensation. Please do not send us confidential information as feedback.
Service Changes, Interruptions, and Termination
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the platform at any time, including features that exist today. The site may be unavailable during maintenance, outages, or events outside our control. We may also stop providing the service to a person who violates these Terms or whose use creates risk for others.
Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the website and the services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not promise continuous availability, error-free operation, accurate AI results, successful contact between people, verification of ownership, recovery of any pet, publication of every report, preservation of every submission, compatibility with every device or browser, or permanent free access to every feature that may exist in the future. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, KC AI Pet Match and the people who operate it will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, arising out of or relating to your use of the platform.
This includes, to the extent the law allows, claims relating to a missed or incorrect match, a delayed or unpublished report, an inaccurate submission by any person, a dispute between users, lost data, service interruptions, the conduct of any third party, entry onto property, the handling of any animal, injury to a person or animal, the loss or theft of a pet, allegations about pet theft, ownership disputes, financial loss, emotional distress, and reliance on any listing or notification.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including liability for fraud, for willful misconduct, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where the law does not permit exclusion.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless KC AI Pet Match and the people who operate it from claims, damages, losses, and reasonable costs arising out of content you submit, a false or unlawful report, your violation of these Terms, your violation of another person’s rights, your unlawful conduct, or an improper attempt to recover or take an animal. We will tell you promptly about any claim covered by this section and will reasonably cooperate with you in defending it.
Governing Law and Venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You and KC AI Pet Match agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the platform will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Johnson County, Kansas, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
Dispute Resolution
If you have a problem, please contact us first at kcaipetmatch@gmail.com. Most issues can be sorted out quickly and informally, and we would rather fix something than argue about it. If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, it may be brought in the courts described in the Governing Law and Venue section. These Terms do not require arbitration and do not waive any right you may have to a jury trial or to participate in a class action.
Severability
If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, that part will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the rest of the Terms will remain in effect.
No Waiver
If we do not enforce a provision of these Terms right away, that does not mean we have given up the right to enforce it later.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the platform changes, including if we add forms, public listings, maps, accounts, alerts, partner access, or paid features. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects your rights, we will make that clear here. Continuing to use the platform after an update means you accept the updated Terms.
