Information for Shelters and Rescues

KCAI is designed so a shelter or rescue can check its intake records against lost-pet reports. That capability is being built.

No shelter integrations are active. No shelter or rescue currently sends data to KCAI, and no shelter listings appear on this site. We will not describe an organisation as participating until it has agreed in writing.

The principles this will be built on

Permission first

No organisation’s records are ingested without its written authorisation. Publicly visible does not mean freely usable.

Vendor neutral

Designed to accept records by several methods rather than requiring one specific software vendor.

You keep control

A partner decides what is shared, what stays private, and can stop sharing at any time.

Attribution

A record that came from your organisation stays attributed to it, and links back to you.

No duplicates

Records are keyed so re-sending the same animal updates the existing record instead of creating another.

Private stays private

Adopter and surrenderer details are not something this platform wants, asks for, or displays.
